Cocoa Bean Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average cocoa bean import price stood at $2,939 per ton in July 2023, declining by -3.9% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a temperate increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, cocoa bean import price increased by +18.5% against March 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 35% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,058 per ton in June 2023, and then contracted slightly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,864 per ton), while the price for Liberia ($2,271 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average cocoa bean export price amounted to $2,909 per ton, with a decrease of -3.3% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 20% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,007 per ton in June 2023, and then dropped modestly in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($3,572 per ton) and Belgium ($3,345 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($2,555 per ton) and Germany ($2,845 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cocoa Bean Imports in the Netherlands
Cocoa bean imports into the Netherlands fell to 687K tons in 2022, reducing by -13.2% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 3.6% against the previous year.
