Cocoa Butter Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2023

The average cocoa butter import price stood at $7,155 per ton in September 2023, picking up by 85% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.5% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, cocoa butter import price increased by +85.0% against August 2023 indices. The import price peaked at $7,775 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Finland ($17,101 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($5,679 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cocoa Butter Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average cocoa butter export price amounted to $5,324 per ton, which is down by -28% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 28%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,598 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($6,082 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus stood at $4,762 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Cocoa Butter Imports in Latvia

In 2022, cocoa butter imports into Latvia skyrocketed to 330 tons, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 128%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 814 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cocoa butter imports expanded rapidly to $1.6M in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 126% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $4.6M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
