Coconut Oil Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average coconut oil import price amounted to $1,740 per ton, increasing by 4.7% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, coconut oil import price increased by +59.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 53%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($3,500 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,709 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+11.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In July 2023, the average coconut oil export price amounted to $4,226 per ton, declining by -30.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 39% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $7,319 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($9,791 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,785 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+91.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of coconut (copra) oil decreased by -37.6% to 1.1K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports faced a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 6.4% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.7K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, coconut oil exports dropped markedly to $5.4M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 29%.
