Commercial Printing Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average commercial printing import price amounted to $10,613 per ton, waning by -5.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 24%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $17,578 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($31,399 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($5,308 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial printing export price stood at $7,105 per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, commercial printing export price decreased by -24.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 43% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $9,383 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($13,084 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($1,796 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+7.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of commercial printing (except screen and books), when their volume decreased by -19.4% to 25K tons. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year.

In value terms, commercial printing imports reduced dramatically to $269M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -26.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 48%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $365M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
