Copper Wire Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

In December 2021, the average copper wire export price amounted to $9,477 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in December 2021.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In December 2021, the countries with the highest prices were Japan ($10,085 per ton) and India ($9,608 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($8,823 per ton) and Vietnam ($9,071 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average copper wire import price stood at $10,148 per ton in December 2021, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period from December 2020 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2021 an increase of 7.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $10,578 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices from Thailand ($11,101 per ton) and Indonesia ($10,312 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($8,656 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($8,701 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
