Cyclic Hydrocarbons Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
The average cyclic hydrocarbons export price stood at $1,395 per ton in 2022, jumping by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 46%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,113 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,071 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($1,182 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cyclic Hydrocarbons Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average cyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $942 per ton, picking up by 8% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 27% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,057 per ton. From November 2022 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($4,322 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($528 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cyclic Hydrocarbons Exports in the United States
For the third consecutive year, the United States recorded decline in shipments abroad of cyclic hydrocarbons, which decreased by -21.8% to 2.8M tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -3.7% was in 2021.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons exports fell slightly to $3.9B in 2022. In general, exports showed a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41% against the previous year.

Cyclic Hydrocarbons Imports in the United States
In 2022, supplies from abroad of cyclic hydrocarbons increased by 19% to 3.7M tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $3.6B in 2022. In general, imports posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
