In January 2022, the average degras export price amounted to $257 per ton, declining by -9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2021 when the average export price increased by 56% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $429 per ton in November 2021; however, from December 2021 to January 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($395 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine totaled $210 per ton.

From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+63.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average degras import price stood at $18 per ton in 2022, reducing by -96.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price faced a significant decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 688% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $593 per ton, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ukraine.

From 2013 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Kazakhstan amounted to -1.6% per year.

Degras Exports in Russia

For the third consecutive year, Russia recorded decline in overseas shipments of degras, which decreased by -26.3% to 6.3K tons in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a deep downturn. The smallest decline of -3.4% was in 2021.

In value terms, degras exports expanded slightly to $1.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +69.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 64%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Degras Imports in Russia

In 2022, the amount of degras imported into Russia skyrocketed to 1.7K tons, increasing by 682% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 747% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, degras imports dropped rapidly to $31K in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 979% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $131K, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
