Fishing Rod Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In April 2023, the average fishing rod import price amounted to $25.9 per unit, which is down by -18.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 33% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $31.6 per unit in March 2023, and then declined rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($117 per unit), while the price for South Korea ($17.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fishing Rod Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average fishing rod export price amounted to $71 per unit, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fishing rod export price increased by +76.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($104 per unit), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($17 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fishing Rod Imports in the United States
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of fishing rods and other line fishing tackle, when their volume decreased by -3.7% to 46M units. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 104% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 48M units, and then fell modestly in the following year.
In value terms, fishing rod imports fell to $1.2B in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 45%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.2B, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Fishing Rod Exports in the United States

Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 3.4M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fishing rod exports reduced slightly to $176M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year.
