Frozen Fish Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen fish export price stood at $3,344 per ton in 2022, reducing by -2.5% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen fish export price decreased by -4.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 33%. The export price peaked at $3,517 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,053 per ton), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($1,690 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+19.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fish import price stood at $2,810 per ton in 2022, growing by 7.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $2,956 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($5,822 per ton), while the price for Japan ($1,569 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, the amount of frozen fish exported from Vietnam surged to 1.2M tons, growing by 33% against 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +57.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, frozen fish exports surged to $3.9B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Frozen Fish Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, imports of frozen fish into Vietnam contracted to 336K tons, with a decrease of -7.4% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year.
