The average frozen strawberries import price stood at $2,489 per ton in 2022, rising by 9% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25%. The import price peaked at $2,777 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,005 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,784 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average frozen strawberries export price amounted to $1,690 per ton, with a decrease of -5.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,172 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +28.4% per year.
Frozen Strawberries Imports in Costa Rica
In 2022, purchases abroad of frozen strawberrieses decreased by -39.7% to 297 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year.
