Industrial Roundwood (Non-Coniferous) Price in Austria (CIF) - 2023
The average industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) import price stood at $145 per cubic meter in June 2023, reducing by -30.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 35% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $207 per cubic meter in May 2023, and then contracted significantly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($455 per cubic meter), while the price for the Czech Republic ($92.7 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Industrial Roundwood (Non-Coniferous) Price in Austria (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) export price amounted to $148 per cubic meter, shrinking by -6.3% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a modest increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) export price decreased by -21.6% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $189 per cubic meter in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($381 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($120 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Industrial Roundwood (Non-Coniferous) Imports in Austria
In 2022, approx. 888K cubic meters of industrial roundwood were imported into Austria; waning by -35.8% against 2021. Overall, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, (non-coniferous) imports hit record highs at 1.5M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) imports contracted to $76M in 2022. In general, imports saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 10%. Imports peaked at $95M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
