Industrial Roundwood (Non-Coniferous) Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) export price amounted to $60.0 per cubic meter, with a decrease of -17.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.9% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $82.4 per cubic meter in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($210 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($50.1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Industrial Roundwood (Non-Coniferous) Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022
The average industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) import price stood at $46 per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $50 per cubic meter in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($86 per cubic meter), while the price for Bolivia ($35 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Industrial Roundwood (Non-Coniferous) Exports in Brazil
For the fourth consecutive year, Brazil recorded growth in shipments abroad of industrial roundwood, which increased by 1.6% to 2.4M cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) exports amounted to $174M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the (non-coniferous) exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In 2022, the amount of industrial roundwood imported into Brazil shrank to 19K cubic meters, falling by -5.1% compared with 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, (non-coniferous) imports increased by +38.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 20K cubic meters, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, industrial roundwood (non-coniferous) imports rose markedly to $870K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, (non-coniferous) imports increased by +50.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 33%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
