Leather Apparel Price in Australia (CIF) - 2022
The average leather apparel import price stood at $104 per unit in 2022, declining by -10.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 91% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $116 per unit in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Hong Kong SAR ($104 per unit) and Vietnam ($104 per unit), while the price for France ($104 per unit) and Turkey ($104 per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+17.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Leather Apparel Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average leather apparel export price amounted to $142 per unit, which is down by -2.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 273%. The export price peaked at $153 per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Belgium ($142 per unit) and Fiji ($142 per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($142 per unit) and Vanuatu ($142 per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to French Polynesia (+24.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, imports of apparel of leather or of composition leather into Australia amounted to 275K units, with an increase of 10% compared with the previous year's figure.
