Lime Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average lime import price amounted to $212 per ton, declining by -5.9% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.1% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $230 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($280 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($186 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lime Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average lime export price stood at $212 per ton in August 2023, picking up by 10% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 20% month-to-month. The export price peaked in August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($412 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada totaled $205 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+6.0%).
Lime Imports in the United States
In 2022, the amount of lime imported into the United States amounted to 354K tons, with an increase of 9.6% compared with the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, lime imports stood at $66M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Lime Exports in the United States
In 2022, the amount of lime exported from the United States contracted to 303K tons, reducing by -9.3% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw a perceptible reduction.
