Margarine and Shortening Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average margarine and shortening export price amounted to $1,788 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,011 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Belgium ($2,053 per ton) and Germany ($2,029 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($1,399 per ton) and Lithuania ($1,686 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In August 2023, the average margarine and shortening import price amounted to $2,121 per ton, waning by -4% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 10% month-to-month.
