Milled Rice Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average milled rice import price amounted to $1,189 per ton, with a decrease of -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 41% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,321 per ton in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($1,228 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($697 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Milled Rice Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average milled rice export price amounted to $1,013 per ton, increasing by 2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 109% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,826 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iraq ($2,513 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($73 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+16.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Milled Rice Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, supplies from abroad of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice was finally on the rise to reach 229K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage.
In value terms, milled rice imports expanded significantly to $196M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep setback.

Milled Rice Exports in Kuwait
In 2022, the amount of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice exported from Kuwait skyrocketed to 211 tons, growing by 112% on the year before. In general, exports, however, saw a deep contraction.
In value terms, milled rice exports soared to $214K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease.
