Over the period under review, the total production indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -5.1% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production reached the maximum level at $3.9B in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

Production By Country

China (67K units) constituted the country with the largest volume of non-electric roasting furnace production, accounting for 43% of total volume. Moreover, non-electric roasting furnace production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, India (25K units), threefold. Singapore (7.6K units) ranked third in terms of total production with a 4.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume in China totaled +14.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+25.0% per year) and Singapore (+2.1% per year).

Imports

Import Prices By Country

In 2022, the average non-electric roasting furnace import price amounted to $4,997 per unit, reducing by -61.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 206%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $35,841 per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, China (33K units) represented the main exporter of non-electric furnaces and ovens for the roasting or melting, mixing up 45% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (14K units), Rwanda (5.8K units) and Bahrain (5.3K units), together generating a 34% share of total exports. The United States (2.9K units), Germany (2.2K units), Italy (1.8K units) and Japan (1.3K units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electric roasting furnace exports from China stood at +58.3%. At the same time, Rwanda (+68.6%), India (+24.8%) and the United States (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Rwanda emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +68.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Bahrain (-1.9%), Italy (-6.7%), Japan (-11.6%) and Germany (-11.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, China ($294M), Germany ($159M) and Italy ($87M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 62% share of global exports. The United States, Japan, India, Bahrain and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Rwanda, with a CAGR of +74.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices By Country

The average non-electric roasting furnace export price stood at $11,870 per unit in 2022, shrinking by -15.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $26,665 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($73,583 per unit), while Rwanda ($1.9 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
