Peanut Butter Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average peanut butter export price amounted to $5,008 per ton, growing by 16% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 19% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,101 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($12,521 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($2,386 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cyprus (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Price in Greece (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average peanut butter import price amounted to $3,296 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 34% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $3,525 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($4,191 per ton) and Spain ($3,530 per ton), while the price for Poland ($3,034 per ton) and the Netherlands ($3,110 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Peanut Butter Exports in Greece
For the fourth consecutive year, Greece recorded growth in shipments abroad of peanut butter and prepared or preserved groundnuts, which increased by 20% to 4.2K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, peanut butter exports surged to $16M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +76.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
