Potato Price in India (FOB) - 2022
The average potato export price stood at $216 per ton in 2022, picking up by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, potato export price decreased by -10.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $275 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($320 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($156 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average potato import price amounted to $218 per ton, declining by -13.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 714% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,476 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bhutan ($220 per ton), while the price for Bangladesh amounted to $107 per ton.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bhutan (-12.0%).
Potato Exports in India
In 2022, exports of potatoes from India skyrocketed to 442K tons, jumping by 27% against the year before. Potato Imports in India
