Potato Price in the United Arab Emirates (CIF) - 2022
The average potato import price stood at $283 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 1.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $335 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($417 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($177 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Potato Price in the United Arab Emirates (FOB) - 2022
The average potato export price stood at $348 per ton in 2022, waning by -47.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 84%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,130 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($582 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($228 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
