Preservative-Treated Rough Wood Price in the UK (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average preservative-treated rough wood import price amounted to $285 per cubic meter, increasing by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 43%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $418 per cubic meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($379 per cubic meter), while the price for Latvia ($183 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preservative-Treated Rough Wood Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average preservative-treated rough wood export price amounted to $327 per cubic meter, which is down by -41.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 74%. The export price peaked at $590 per cubic meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($730 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Finland ($24 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, approx. 265K cubic meters of preservative-treated rough wood were imported into the UK; increasing by 84% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Preservative-Treated Rough Wood Exports in the UK
For the fourth year in a row, the UK recorded growth in shipments abroad of preservative-treated rough wood, which increased by 29% to 22K cubic meters in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, preservative-treated rough wood exports dropped notably to $7.2M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +39.9% against 2019 indices.
