Preserved Fish Fillet Price in Norway (FOB) - 2023
The average preserved fish fillet export price stood at $2,822 per ton in August 2023, reducing by -46.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 57% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $6,808 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($8,966 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($1,731 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Preserved Fish Fillet Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
The average preserved fish fillet import price stood at $19,136 per ton in August 2023, waning by -49.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 618% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $64,567 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Iceland ($75,359 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($14,961 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Preserved Fish Fillet Exports in Norway
In 2022, overseas shipments of fish fillets (dried, salted or in brine, but not smoked) decreased by -41.4% to 5.2K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 21%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 11K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, preserved fish fillet exports fell remarkably to $16M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a dramatic curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5.7%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $36M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of fish fillets (dried, salted or in brine, but not smoked), when their volume increased by 38% to 128 tons. Overall, imports, however, faced a dramatic contraction.
In value terms, preserved fish fillet imports shrank modestly to $2.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 8.8% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.5M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
