In December 2023, the average import price for acids; saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids; vinyl acetates amounted to $954 per ton, surging by 12% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1,232 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($994 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia stood at $951 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for acids; saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids; vinyl acetates stood at $1,016 per ton in December 2023, growing by 4.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,417 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($1,246 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($755 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of acids; saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids; vinyl acetates, when their volume decreased by -30.6% to 79K tons. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 114K tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of acids; saturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids; vinyl acetates contracted slightly to $152M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 133%.
