In March 2022, the average export price for activated carbon; activated natural mineral products; animal black, including spent animal blacks amounted to $484 per ton, waning by -1.8% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 27% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $563 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to March 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,805 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($189 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, import price indicated a measured expansion from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, import price for activated carbon; activated natural mineral products; animal black, including spent animal blacks decreased by -15.4% against January 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2022 an increase of 61% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $719 per ton. From February 2022 to March 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($2,106 per ton), while the price for India ($162 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
