The average import price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $3,842 per ton in December 2023, waning by -16.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2023 when the average import price increased by 21% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,618 per ton, and then reduced rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($12,359 per ton), while the price for China ($3,480 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for aluminium; alloys, bars, rods and profiles, other than hollows stood at $4,541 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 63% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $6,707 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($7,026 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($2,306 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+17.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
