Price for Aluminium; Powders and Flakes in India (FOB) - 2022

The average aluminium; powders and flakes export price stood at $4,279 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United Arab Emirates ($4,912 per ton) and Colombia ($4,881 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($3,711 per ton) and Turkey ($3,903 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average aluminium; powders and flakes import price amounted to $4,682 per ton, growing by 15% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 22% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,846 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($43,289 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($2,226 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Exports of Aluminium; Powders and Flakes in India

Aluminium; powders and flakes exports from India declined rapidly to 3.7K tons in 2022, shrinking by -15.8% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4.4K tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium; powders and flakes exports declined modestly to $16M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 49%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $16M, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
