Price for Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in China (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $1,370 per ton in June 2023, growing by 4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 5% m-o-m. The export price peaked in June 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Singapore ($1,491 per ton) and Thailand ($1,440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($1,202 per ton) and Vietnam ($1,275 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $2,055 per ton, with a decrease of -2.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,441 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($2,637 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,380 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in China
In 2022, overseas shipments of apples, pears and quinces; freshes decreased by -20.2% to 1.3M tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.6M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
