Price for Carbon and Graphite Products in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average carbon and graphite products export price amounted to $33,181 per ton, jumping by 16% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $35,841 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($96,416 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($3,831 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+17.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average carbon and graphite products import price stood at $8,956 per ton in August 2023, falling by -3.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 20% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $9,261 per ton in July 2023, and then reduced in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($22,738 per ton), while the price for Canada ($1,410 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 72K tons of carbon and graphite products were exported from the United States; increasing by 11% against the year before. Overall, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 76% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
