The average cocoa; paste, not defatted import price stood at $5,675 per ton in September 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period from September 2021 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 53% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,121 per ton. From February 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices from the Netherlands ($6,661 per ton) and Malaysia ($5,821 per ton), while the price for Ghana ($4,907 per ton) and Cote d'Ivoire ($5,406 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cocoa; paste, not defatted export price stood at $5,685 per ton in September 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2022 when the average export price increased by 21% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,759 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In September 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Sri Lanka ($6,459 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,774 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($4,859 per ton) and Indonesia ($5,504 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
