The average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $7,240 per ton in October 2023, surging by 5.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 29% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $7,720 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($17,063 per ton), while the price for Chile ($2,465 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $15,931 per ton, increasing by 14% against the previous month. Overall, the export price posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 336% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in October 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($23,461 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($4,827 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds rose remarkably to $11M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +22.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +82.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
