Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in Poland (CIF) - 2022

The average glass fibres and wool import price stood at $4,796 per ton in 2022, declining by -7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,263 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($11,240 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,759 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Glass Fibres and Wool in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average glass fibres and wool export price stood at $12,633 per ton in August 2023, growing by 38% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated notable growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, glass fibres and wool export price increased by +38.1% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 78% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($22,301 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($3,931 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+85.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Glass Fibres and Wool in Poland

In 2022, supplies from abroad of glass fibres and glass wool increased by 43% to 15K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment.

In value terms, glass fibres and wool imports surged to $71M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
