In October 2023, the average export price for iron ores and concentrates, agglomerated (excluding roasted iron pyrites) amounted to $113 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.2% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $169 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($168 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($79.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
