In August 2023, the average export price for iron ores and concentrates, non-agglomerated amounted to $148 per ton, picking up by 3.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 75% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $160 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($205 per ton), while the average price for exports to China totaled $133 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for iron ores and concentrates, non-agglomerated amounted to $200 per ton, picking up by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a tangible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
