The average import price for lac; natural gums, resins, gum-resins and balsamses stood at $4,160 per ton in 2022, dropping by -20.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 180% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $5,258 per ton in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($9,864 per ton), while the price for France ($3,486 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+31.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
