In January 2024, the average import price for nuts, edible; pistachios, fresh or dried, shelleds amounted to $3,303 per ton, shrinking by -67.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 401% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $17,203 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,412 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($1,500 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In general, the export price recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 31%. The export price peaked at $19,428 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Papua New Guinea ($17,660 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia totaled $10,017 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brunei Darussalam (+24.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
