In August 2023, the average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms amounted to $5,223 per ton, dropping by -12.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.3% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $6,336 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Taiwan (Chinese).
From December 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to +5.0% per month.

Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed noticeable growth. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($113,972 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($2,310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
