The average import price for steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $1,257 per ton in 2022, increasing by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses increased by +70.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,747 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic stood at $1,178 per ton.

From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+0.7%).

As a result, imports attained the peak of 53K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 230%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 30K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, exports of steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses expanded modestly to $28M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase.
