The average import price for steel, alloy stood at $641 per ton in 2022, increasing by 4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $895 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($655 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $597 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+56.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
