In 2022, the average import price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia amounted to $14,099 per ton, rising by 2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 754%. The import price peaked at $19,953 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($17,591 per ton), while the price for Germany ($11,484 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+27.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for steel, stainless; semi-finished products, other than of rectangular cross-sectia stood at $14,071 per ton in September 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 10% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $14,675 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Czech Republic.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Czech Republic amounted to +1.9% per month.
