In December 2023, the average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $5,408 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 19% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,940 per ton. From August 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($5,779 per ton) and France ($5,506 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($4,054 per ton) and Belgium ($4,540 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa stood at $4,660 per ton in December 2023, waning by -7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 43% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,247 per ton. From July 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($11,877 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($4,292 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa decreased by -2% to 27K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 28K tons, and then declined slightly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa contracted to $119M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $131M, and then contracted in the following year.
