Price for Toilet and Kitchen Linen in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023

The average toilet and kitchen linen export price stood at $1.7 per unit in August 2023, falling by -12.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 20% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2.0 per unit. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to Greece ($1.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average toilet and kitchen linen import price amounted to $1.7 per unit, rising by 19% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% m-o-m. The import price peaked in August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($4.2 per unit), while the price for Pakistan ($1.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Toilet and Kitchen Linen in Bulgaria

For the fourth year in a row, Bulgaria recorded growth in shipments abroad of toilet and kitchen linen, which increased by 4% to 11M units in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +64.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, toilet and kitchen linen exports surged to $19M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +73.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
