Price for Vinyl Chloride Polymers; Waste, Parings and Scrap in the UK (FOB) - 2023
In November 2023, the average export price for vinyl chloride polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $552 per ton, reducing by -3.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 31% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $719 per ton. From February 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($735 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($198 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for vinyl chloride polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $490 per ton, rising by 64% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 150% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,042 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($936 per ton), while the price for France ($205 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+77.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of vinyl chloride polymers; waste, parings and scraps increased by 0.6% to 12K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a dramatic contraction.
