In August 2023, the average import price for winding wire, other than of coppers amounted to $2,477 per ton, declining by -65.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 30% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,140 per ton, and then reduced remarkably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,832 per ton), while the price for China stood at $2,367 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-3.0%).

The average export price for winding wire, other than of coppers stood at $2,932 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -31.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 115% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $6,737 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($10,050 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($463 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Djibouti (+24.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
