The average export price for zinc; unwrought, (not alloyed), containing by weight less than 99.99% of zincs stood at $2,348 per ton in 2022, growing by 6.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $3,053 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Morocco ($2,494 per ton) and Germany ($2,473 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($2,119 per ton) and the United Arab Emirates ($2,127 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
