Lentil Production in Mexico - 2022
In 2022, approx. 12K tons of lentils were produced in Mexico; with an increase of 23% on the previous year. Overall, production continues to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 485% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak volume of 52K tons. From 2019 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure. Lentil output in Mexico indicated a buoyant increase, which was largely conditioned by a prominent expansion of the harvested area and a perceptible contraction in yield figures.
In value terms, lentil production stood at $6.3M in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a abrupt slump. The average yield of lentils in Mexico surged to 1.4 tons per ha in 2022, jumping by 23% on the year before. In general, the yield, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 294%. As a result, the yield attained the peak level of 6.5 tons per ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the average lentil yield failed to regain momentum.
