Pumpkin Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average pumpkin import price amounted to $2,423 per ton, rising by 27% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated modest growth from October 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, pumpkin import price increased by +97.1% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2023 an increase of 55% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,189 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($5,427 per ton), while the price for China ($253 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Price in Hong Kong SAR (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average pumpkin export price amounted to $1,848 per ton, growing by 74% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 498%. The export price peaked at $3,661 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($2,928 per ton), while the average price for exports to China stood at $896 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Macao SAR (-1.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Pumpkin Imports in Hong Kong SAR
In 2022, purchases abroad of pumpkin (squash and gourds) was finally on the rise to reach 1.9K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction.
