Quinoa Price in Spain (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average quinoa import price amounted to $2,181 per ton, rising by 4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 48%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,357 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,495 per ton), while the price for Peru ($1,954 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In October 2023, the average quinoa export price amounted to $2,091 per ton, shrinking by -1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 39% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,844 per ton. From July 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Portugal ($2,431 per ton) and Italy ($2,207 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($1,804 per ton) and Bulgaria ($1,847 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
