Safety Glass Price in South Africa (CIF) - 2022
The average safety glass import price stood at $43 per square meter in 2022, jumping by 27% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $73 per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($147 per square meter), while the price for China ($26 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average safety glass export price stood at $34 per square meter in 2022, shrinking by -35.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 38% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $77 per square meter. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
