The average starch; manioc (cassava) import price stood at $748 per ton in July 2023, growing by 19% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 32% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $809 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($743 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($592 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
