Strawberry Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average strawberry export price stood at $1,217 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 52% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a modest expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 142% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,222 per ton. From November 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($5,664 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($175 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Strawberry Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average strawberry import price amounted to $2,531 per ton, waning by -15.3% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, strawberry import price increased by +44.3% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $3,086 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($3,179 per ton), while the price for Russia amounted to $2,070 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+22.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Strawberry Exports in Turkey
In 2022, the amount of strawberries exported from Turkey soared to 69K tons, with an increase of 64% on 2021. Overall, exports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, strawberry exports skyrocketed to $63M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 89%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
